Started round 6 - joined hearts that are attached to the doily with chains on the final round. There are 20 hearts total.
I'm practicing front side/back side tatting on this round. I usually tat using the "traditional" method but it does look nicer having a true front side/back side. I guess it's the knitter coming out in me.
I'm trying to get in shape for Phase I of Tatters Across Time's Tatting Proficiency Program. I have my packet already but haven't started yet. I'm excited about it! Looking forward to sharpening up my skills.
Your front side/back side looks very good.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's a learning process that's for sure.
DeleteVery nice! I love the color way too!
ReplyDeleteI really like my first batch of hand dyed threads!
DeleteNice color! I get confused by front side/back side tatting, but I do like the look of it. I'm glad you were able to fix your mistake without much fuss.
ReplyDeleteI'm having to concentrate more on this one and sometimes I just want something mindless to do with my hands. I guess on those nights I should work on something really easy.
DeleteThat doily is awesome!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! And thanks for all of your encouraging comments on other posts. I wish I had more time to blog or I'd reply more than I do. But I do read them and it makes me smile.
DeleteSuperb execution of directional tatting !!!
ReplyDeleteHere's a further tip which I first learned from Georgia Sietz :
An up join followed by 1st half stitch simulates 1 complete RODS & a down join followed by 2nd half stitch simulates 1 regular DS (just make sure there are no colour blips on front side, especially when working with 2 colours or a variegated colourway)
Love the thread !
Thank you for that tip. I need all I can get as this is my main source for feedback! So, really do appreciate it.
